Data journalism teams between long-term analyses and news-driven stories

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Many data teams take their place between two poles: Not only do they work on their own data-driven stories, they also collaborate with the newsroom in order to make each and every article better from a "storytelling" perspective, i.e., to enhance it with adequate – often visual – elements or a particular structure. Therefore, on the one hand, they are reacting to the news and creating quick visually-driven content; on the other hand they work on mid- or long-term research for and the conceptualization and implementation of larger data-driven stories. In this session, several datajournalists shows how their teams try to bridge the gap between the two requirements. We are keen to discuss how each newsroom tackles these sometimes contradicting demands.
